Providing your benefits for your health

The PEBT is a jointly trusted healthcare fund delivering health and wellbeing programs to the unionized support staff in British Columbia’s public schools.

Consistent with Income Tax Act (Canada) the Public Education Benefits Trust Fund (PEBT) operates and qualifies as an employee life and health trust (ELHT) and is funded through a combination of employer and employee contributions and government dollars to provide members with specified health and wellbeing programs. These include health, dental, disability and income protection benefits.

The Trust is governed by a board of trustees made up of an equal number of CUPE and employer representatives. Together, and following the guidelines in the trust agreement, they have a common goal of running the Trust and fulfilling their fiduciary duties.
